Who we are
Preservo is a private family memory archive. We help families upload documents, record voice stories, and ask AI-grounded questions about their own past. Preservo is operated by Jonathan Teubal. Contact: jonathantdev123@gmail.com.
What we collect
We only collect what you give us. That includes:
- Documents you upload (PDFs, images, text files) and audio recordings you create in the app.
- Transcripts produced from your audio (via OpenAI Whisper), along with names, places, dates, and relationships that our AI extracts from your sources.
- Vector embeddings of your content (via OpenAI text-embedding-3-small) so the Ask feature can find relevant passages.
- Face detections from photos you upload (via AWS Rekognition), only after you opt in. You can revoke this at any time in settings.
- Account metadata: your email address, sign-in timestamps, and the family members you invite.
What we never do
- We never answer your questions using outside knowledge — the Ask feature only uses your own archive. If we have no source, we say so.
- We never sell your data.
- We never train AI models on your family's content. Your data is used only to serve you and the family members you explicitly invite.
- We never scrape public records or third-party genealogy sites.
Who we share data with (sub-processors)
To run the product we send your content to a small number of trusted services:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and storage.
- Anthropic (Claude) — AI extraction, themes, and grounded answers.
- OpenAI — Whisper transcription and text embeddings.
- AWS Rekognition — face detection and matching (opt-in).
- Mapbox — geocoding place names for the migration map.
- Resend — sending family invite emails.
- Vercel — hosting.
How long we keep your data
We keep your data as long as your account exists. When you delete your account (Settings → Delete account), we erase everything: documents, audio, transcripts, face vectors in Rekognition, vector embeddings, and your authentication record. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
Your rights
You can, at any time:
- Download all your data as a JSON bundle from Settings.
- Delete your account and all associated data from Settings.
- Opt out of face recognition at any time in Settings. Detections already made are deleted when you opt out.
- Remove family members you have invited.
Security
Every database table is protected by row-level security: even with a valid login, you can only read and write rows that belong to your family. Files are stored in private buckets keyed by user ID. We use TLS for all data in transit.
Children
Preservo is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If a parent or guardian uploads a photo of a child, that content is private to the family archive.
Changes
If we make a meaningful change to this policy, we will update the “last updated” date at the top and notify active accounts by email.
